Data Visualizations that are created as an Interventionist Visualization present reality, that is the data produced and collected by society, as it is, and then also offer users an opportunity to intervene, to truly interact in some way with the data, that is to be able to manipulate the data in real time and see the results. This kind of interaction with a reflection of reality through data visualizations restores the agency of the user and promotes the practice of radically reImagining the possibilities for our future. It is this kind of truly interactive, interventionist, model of data visualizations that we should be moving towards, as part of our overall work in shifting the relationship of users from passive consumers to active creators and reCreators of our worlds. For more ideas and information around the creation of interactive visualizations and web content see Ten Brighter Ideas?
